The anthem of the State of Johor, Johor State Anthem Malaysia was composed by Bandmaster Armenia Mackertich Galistan or MG Abdullah and lyrics by Captain HJ. Mohamed Said bin Hj. Sulaiman. Adapted from the famous melody Malaya Dondang Sayang in 1897 and approved by Sultan Ibrahim, was without lyrics until 1914 when the staff of the Bank of Hong Kong in Johor Bahru, Hubert Courtney Allen (1878-1959), wrote the first words of English and Captain HJ. Mohamed Said (1876-1955) rewrote it in Malay.

Muar (also referred to as Bandar Maharani) is a town in northwestern Johor, Malaysia. The name “Muar” is also used for the name of his district, which once divided the city of Muar and the sub-district Tangkak. Tangkak sub-district has been fully updated in a district known as District Ledang. Before Muar district borders Malacca on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. A better Ledang District Muar District now covers only the area south of Sungai Muar, while the north is within Ledang district.
